Angelito Diaz-Escalera charged in Christopher Romero-Warren’s death

Rochester man charged in mid-September connection shooting death of a city autoworker.

Angelito Diaz-Escalera, 24, was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon; Both were crimes. September 18 Death of Christopher Romero-Warrensaid Capt. Greg Bello, 29, of Rochester, Rochester Police Department.

Romero-Warren was working at a collision shop at 700 Hollenbeck Street, as he did most evenings, when he was fatally shot at the workplace around 9:15 p.m. “We shot Warren multiple times at close range,” Bello said.

Romero-Warren was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bello said Diaz-Escalera and Romero-Warren knew each other before and that the murder stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the two.

This section of Hollenbeck Street is just north of Route 104, near St. It is located between Paul Street and North Clinton Avenue.

Diaz-Escalera was arrested Wednesday in Rochester on an unrelated sealed felony warrant, according to Rochester police.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in City Court on murder and weapons possession charges. The warrant will be filed in Monroe County Court at a later date.
