THORNTON, Colo. (KMGH) – Two brothers in Thornton, Colorado are mourning the loss of their family.

His parents and two sisters were killed in a violent car crash over the weekend.

The brothers said they were shot in the back while their family was walking to Walmart to shop.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better family,” Adam Díaz said.

Their home was often filled with music.

“He was always singing at the top of his lungs on the way to school,” recalled Adam Díaz.

He was also full of kindness.

“My mom and dad always helped. No matter what, you can call them; they will always be ready to help,” added Adam Díaz.

Now their house is filled with silence.

“I get a message on my phone that my little sister has been spotted in the accident,” said Adam Díaz’s brother Daniel.

Thornton police responded to a car crash late Saturday night.

“That’s when I went out. I went to my car and called my brother,” Daniel Díaz recounted.

The accident sparked a fire that destroyed the Díaz brothers’ entire world.

“I could see my dad in the driver’s seat and when I saw he was there and not moving, I knew my whole family was there,” Adam Díaz said.

Their father, Francisco, was driving the car.

“He was very quiet, but he would be very outgoing and talkative with the right people,” Adam Díaz said.

Beatriz, the mother of the family, was also in the car.

“My mother was the exact opposite. Adam Díaz always made friends wherever he was, whether it was in a store or with his family.

Among the victims were his 15-year-old sister Paoloa and his 10-year-old sister Nataly.

“My little sisters always want to go to the movies, do something, hang out,” Adam Díaz said. “They told me four people died in that car, and I was hoping it wasn’t the case.”

The brothers say their lives are just beginning.

“My father’s goal was to open a company that produces granite,” said Daniel Díaz. “Our goal was to get enough money, move out, have our own home, support our parents.”

Their future is now uncertain.

“We feel lost,” Adam Díaz said. “We don’t even know what the next step is. “It doesn’t seem real yet because it’s hard to believe.”

The brothers are now afraid of returning to their empty house, filled only with memories.

“Everything will be fine,” Adam Díaz said. “It will just take time, but it will get better.”
