Dodger fans took to the streets of downtown, East Los Angeles and other parts of the Southland Wednesday evening to celebrate the team’s World Series victory, prompting the Los Angeles Police Department to declare a citywide tactical alert.

The alert allowed the agency to keep officers on duty beyond their normal shifts to ensure adequate staffing was available for any incidents that might arise.

Shortly after the Dodgers won the World Series championship, fans were seen gathering in the downtown streets near L.A. Live and some people were seen setting off fireworks. LAPD issued a dispersal order for a crowd deemed to be holding an illegal assembly near Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street.
