Omaha Police searching for suspect in fatal hit-and-run

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver who left a man dead in the street after a hit and run.

According to OPD, officers responded to the scene near 61st Street and L Street just before midnight Monday and found 35-year-old Michael Schoemann in the roadway. Medical teams determined that the person died at the scene.

Crash investigators believe Schoemann may have been lying in the eastbound lane of L Street when he was struck by the vehicle, which was continuing southbound on 60th Street after the crash.

Police said the vehicle was a gray Chevy Traverse from 2013 to 2017 and had damage to the front bumper and passenger side.
