CHP announces motorcyclist killed in crash in Penngrove

A motorcyclist died after crashing into a truck in Penngrove Wednesday morning, authorities said.

A motorcyclist died after crashing into a truck in Penngrove on Wednesday, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol responded to the crash around 7:30 a.m. near Old Redwood Highway and East Railroad Boulevard, according to a post on Facebook. CHP Santa Rosa Facebook page.

Fire crews determined that the motorcycle driver died at the scene, officials said.

Authorities believe the motorcycle was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed and crossed the double yellow lines, illegally passing multiple vehicles.

When the motorcyclist re-entered the southbound lane, the motorcycle collided with a truck exiting a private driveway preparing to turn left. The motorcycle did not slow down in time and crashed into the front left part of the truck. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle due to the impact.

Authorities stated that the truck driver was not injured.

Authorities said that the name of the motorcycle driver will be announced by the district coroner after notification of his relatives.
