New report details Phoenix woman found dead in parking lot next to alleged stalker

PHOENIX (AZ Family) — Details of a newly published report What led to the death of a Valley woman? After her body was found in a car next to the body of her alleged stalker in the parking lot of a Phoenix steakhouse in July.

According to a report from the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office, 25-year-old Doris Aguilar He died from a gunshot wound to his head. His death was ruled a homicide.

Aguilar was last seen on July 1 and was reported missing the next day.

Juan Cuellar, 51, who reportedly killed himself, was known to be a Lyft driver living in his car and parked it in the nearby Longhorn Steakhouse parking lot, the report said. 75th Street and Encanto Boulevard. A friend who repeatedly checked on Cuellar went to the parking lot to bring him food on July 3, authorities said.

There he found Cuellar and Aguilar inside the vehicle. He believed they were sleeping, so he “left without disturbing them.” But when she returned four days later on July 7, she found them in the same situation and called 911.

Medical teams arriving at the scene determined that 2 people had died. Cuellar had a firearm in his lap and authorities say he took his own life.

Investigators believed the bodies had been in the car for several days.

Family members reported Aguilar missing after she was last seen leaving her home on July 2. His phone was turned off and his car was found outside the house. Surveillance footage shows him arriving at the mall parking lot on the evening of July 1 and getting into Cuellar’s vehicle before the two drove away, according to the report.

During the investigation, authorities found a notebook inside the vehicle that appeared to be Cuellar’s handwritten notes about Aguilar, detailing his feelings for her.

But authorities found a recording that apparently mentioned Aguilar’s death: “It was an accident… My gun was next to the chair and he took it. He didn’t know that the police station was closed. I went to get the gun and it went off. I panicked and left. I know it will be my fault no matter what. Since I couldn’t stand being without him in my life, I went to see if I could find him. I have a big heart and so has he always.”

Police have not corroborated any of the allegations in Cuellar’s notebook.

Authorities further claim that Cuellar moved around the woman’s body, talked to her while she was in shock, and changed her clothes because he “didn’t want her to get dirty.” Later in the introduction he writes: “I hope he can forgive me. “Please tell my family and children that this was an accident, please I’m sorry.”

Other records include suicide notes from Cuellar and others appear angry at Aguilar, the report states.

Family members said Cuellar had a history of stalking Aguilar and that the two worked together in the same building until they were fired about a year ago.
