‘You have work to do,’ Governor Tim Walz tells door-knockers in Matthews | WFAE90.7

Democratic vice presidential candidate and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz visited Matthews on Wednesday to rally volunteers knocking on the door.

Walz encouraged more than 200 volunteers from the local Democratic party to reach out to people who are still unsure whether they will vote this election.

“You have work to do out there — we have opportunities to make a difference,” Walz said. “Take the ones who aren’t so sure. Take the ones who say things like, ‘Oh,’ I’m not actually interested in politics.’”

After the speech, volunteers went to neighborhoods in Matthews and South Charlotte, knocking on doors and voting Democratic.

MeckDems brought together more than 5,000 volunteers to knock on nearly 300,000 doors in Mecklenburg County this election cycle.

This is Walz’s fifth visit to North Carolina since joining the Harris ticket. After his time with the volunteers, he traveled to Greensboro and Asheville for campaign events.

Vice President Kamala Harris was also in North Carolina on Wednesday. He held an event in Raleigh and is scheduled to appear in Charlotte on Saturday.
