MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WLUC) – Manistique Area Schools released a statement regarding the Halloween Parade Wednesday afternoon.

Statements on the school district’s Facebook page said the decision was based on feedback from parents and staff who expressed concerns that opening the building to the public was not the right choice at this time for the peace of mind of the school community.

The decision came a day later Manistique Public Schools held a special meeting At the event, more than 150 parents expressed their concerns about school security;

Earlier this month, law enforcement investigated a text message threat but found that no credible threat had been made against any Schoolcraft County schools. But at Tuesday night’s meeting, parents were upset as they noted the threat was investigated and parents were not notified until after the investigation.
