Maricopa County Superior Court documents showed that a shooting at the Arizona Mills mall in September was part of an apparent “feud.”

3 people caught on security camera were arrested He was arrested on Tuesday in connection with There was also a young man among them at the time of the shooting.

The Republic does not name minors suspected of committing crimes.

According to court documents, 19-year-old Gabriel Garcia went to the mall after his 16-year-old stepbrother called Garcia and told him a group of people were following him. When Garcia arrived, he and his brother followed the group into the dining area, where his brother confronted the group, yelling “Hey.” The younger brother started shooting at the group with a gun.

Garcia followed in his brother’s footsteps and fired at the group with a previously concealed rifle. Garcia told police he saw two people in the group “reach out” first and that he couldn’t let someone hurt his brother.

While security camera footage shows a member of the group holding a backpack, it is unclear whether any of the group members were holding a gun or other weapon.

The two alleged shooters were arrested on charges of aggravated assault, endangerment, unlawful use of a firearm and disorderly conduct. The teenager was also arrested for being a minor in possession of a firearm.

A third person, 22-year-old Marvin Hooks, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy. Hooks told police he was at the mall that night, and cameras captured Hooks with the brothers, according to court documents.

In probable cause statements, Garcia and Hooks claimed in interviews that the shooting was part of an ongoing fight between the trio and the group. The document stated that the group had previously opened fire on Hooks’ home, which was consistent with a Phoenix police report in May. The young man also claimed that the group had shot at him before.

The names of the members of the group were not mentioned in the court report.

It was unclear how the feud began or whether the shooting at Hooks’ home provoked the feud.

No injuries were reported in the shooting at the densely populated shopping mall, but at least $500 in property damage was caused.

Garcia and Hooks are being held in the Tempe County Jail.
