3 killed in Raymond crash that closed both sides of Egypt Road near the Gray line, officials say

RAYMOND, Maine (WMTW) – Three people are dead after a crash closed both sides of Egypt Road near the Gray-Raymond line Wednesday, according to authorities.

Officials with the Raymond Fire and Rescue Department said a truck heading to Gray collided with a vehicle heading the wrong way.

Authorities said that the 56-year-old driver of the truck and the two 80-year-old people in the other vehicle died as a result of the accident.

Fire officials said they received reports that the truck involved in the accident was operating erratically.

Shortly before 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Gray Fire Rescue Department He said both sides of Egypt Road will remain closed for a long time.

The Cumberland County Regional Communications Center notified Maine’s Total Coverage that that section of Egypt Road had reopened to traffic shortly after 2:25 p.m.
