Cleveland Browns to Trade Former No. 1 Pick QB

Cleveland Browns We are heading towards a dark future at the point guard position.

Deshaun Watson is under contract for two more years, but it’s clear he’s not a franchise-caliber quarterback. Jameis Winston is 30 years old and has shown great talent, but he is not a long-term guy.

Some believe the Browns could select a quarterback with their first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. But there are other needs that need to be addressed.

Could Cleveland consider trading the point guard of the future? That’s what one analyst thinks they can do.

Zach Pressnell of FanSided Named Browns as potential trade suitor for former No. 1 overall pick and current pick Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young.

“Young is available and the Browns may want to take him. Acquiring Young would mean Cleveland would use all of its top picks in the draft to select players around him, rather than using a first-round pick on a quarterback. Instead of selecting Shedeur Sanders, the Browns would He says he could use this pick against Michigan cornerback Will Johnson to make their defense even scarier.

Young is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing potential trade candidates ahead of next Tuesday’s trade deadline. Whether he’s actually available is an important question, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Panthers open to listening to offers.

So far this season, in his second NFL campaign, Young has struggled. These struggles led to him being benched in favor of veteran signalman Andy Dalton.

Young played in five games this year and completed 59.8 percent of his pass attempts for 523 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions. He also picked up 32 yards and a score on the ground.

For Young, who is only 23 years old, trading may come with some risks. However, he also has the potential to be a legitimate point guard if he reaches his full potential.

A change of environment will be good for him. Playing in Carolina is never a good situation for a young player. Joining Cleveland will give him a chance to put the challenges of his first year and a half behind him and focus on improving for a team that believes in him.

Depending on the price tag, this is a move that could make a lot of sense for the Browns.

With all that said, a trade for Young is an unlikely scenario. It’s an option Cleveland could consider, but fans shouldn’t hold their breath for the Browns to acquire the former No. 1 overall pick.
