International: Maanum scores four points for Norway | News

Frida Maanum scored four goals in an hour as Norway advanced to the next round of the UEFA Euro 2025 play-offs.

Our midfielder started a 9-0 win over Albania in the 18th minute, stretching to meet Guro Reiten’s cross and volleying the ball into the net. He had to wait until the second half, scoring a dash from close range, before completing his hat-trick with a one-touch strike from the edge of the penalty area. His fourth and final goal went beautifully over the Albania goalkeeper.

Leah Williamson marked her 50th England appearance in style by scoring the opening goal in a 2-1 win over South Africa. The Lionesses’ captain was on hand to put the ball into the net near the penalty spot as Beth Mead fired a wonderful shot into the penalty area from the corner.

Alessia Russo was brought on by Sarina Wiegman to replace Jessica Naz after 61 minutes, while Williamson and Mead were substituted ten minutes later. Lotte Wubben-Moy could not play in the match.

Fresh off the bench on Friday, Katie McCabe scored once again in Ireland’s 3-0 win over Georgia, securing their place in the Euro 2025 play-off finals with a 9-0 aggregate win. The Irish captain received the ball just inside the penalty area and drilled a clean shot into the bottom corner to seal the victory. They will face Wales in the next round.

Stina Blackstenius scored another goal for Sweden, which defeated Luxembourg 8-0 this week, and Rosa Kafaji also came on as a substitute. Sweden’s next opponent in the qualifiers is Serbia.

Manuela Zinsberger and Austria progressed to the opening stages of the Euro 2025 play-offs with a 5-1 aggregate win against Slovenia. They will face Poland in the next round.

It was a magical night for Germany’s Kyra Cooney-Cross as she celebrated her 50th appearance for Australia by scoring her first international goal. Our midfielder scored a superb strike from distance to level the scoreline and earn him the Player of the Match award.

Steph Catley, meanwhile, provided an excellent corner kick for Clare Hunt to head home and secure the win for the Matildas. Like Catley, Caitlin Foord also appeared on stage for 90 minutes.

Daphne van Domselaar finished second for the Netherlands, who narrowly beat Denmark 2-1. Barcelona striker Esmee Brugts opened the scoring for the Dutch before former Gunner Danielle van de Donk scored twice on the half hour mark. Kathrine Kuhl came on as a substitute for Denmark in the second half, scoring a goal a few minutes later.

Lia Walti led Switzerland to a 2-1 friendly against France thanks to goals from Ramona Bachmann and Naomi Luyet.

On the other hand, as Spain drew 1-1 with Italy, Laia Codina took the lead until the 75th minute. Mariona Caldentey was not in the match squad.

Michelle Agyemang scored a crucial goal for the first time with England in the U23 camp, beating Portugal 1-0. Our striker, who is currently on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, was awarded the Player of the Match award with the decisive free kick he scored in the 86th minute. Fellow loanee Teyah Goldie played the entire match for England, while Freya Godfrey came on as a second-half substitute.
