In an unexpected move, “fashionista” Bureaucrat Hazim Bangwar has reportedly been removed from the post of deputy commissioner and directed to report to the Sindh Services and General Administration Department.

Known for his distinctive style, Bangwar was currently serving as deputy general Karachi commissioner in the Karachi Commissioner’s office.

After his appointment as deputy commissioner of North Nazimabad in 2023, the official gained fame and popularity among the masses for his services and dedication along with his eclectic taste and choice of clothes.

He hit the headlines once again today following the news of his official dismissal.

The reason for Bangwar’s “removal” is not stated anywhere. However, insiders announced that he was dismissed following a complaint that he had tipped off officials who stayed too long at official residences.

These lodgings within the Commissariat are allocated to officers upon their appointment and are withdrawn at the end of their term of office.

However, two officials, including a woman official, were still staying there despite being informed to vacate after their allotments were canceled during former Karachi commissioner Iqbal Memon’s tenure and the houses were allotted to new officials.

Sources said the new allottees have approached the Sindh High Court for purchase of official residences.

To ensure implementation of the SHC’s order, Bangwar reportedly issued notices to former officials.

Bangwar, who is also a singer and songwriter, earned her first diploma in Fashion Design and Marketing at AIU London and then went on to study for a master’s degree at a university in London.

He has also worked with names such as Jessie J, Future, Ciara, Juelz, T-Pain, Jason Derulo and Nicki Minaj.

In 2019, he released his first single “Haram”, which became a hit in South Korea, Hungary, Egypt and India, making Hazim the first Pakistani singer to reach international charts with an English song.

However, the young bureaucrat’s only passion is not music and fashion. One of his passion projects also involves his foundation, HBF, which aims to fund education, environmental and animal welfare and emergency response programs in Pakistan.

Bangwar has also worked with and supported numerous local and international non-profit organizations such as WWF, SOS, Oceana, Amnesty International, Dar Ul Sakoon, Project Aware and PETA.
