Wednesday forecast

Wednesday morning is starting out very hot with temperatures in the mid-70s in the Twin Cities metro, but that warmth won’t last long. Temperatures will continue to drop throughout the day, reaching the upper 50s in the afternoon and the low 50s in the evening.

Most of Wednesday will remain dry with cloudy skies and northerly winds 5-25 mph. Intermittent showers and thunderstorms will be visible in southeastern Minnesota through the afternoon. Showers could reach the Twin Cities before widespread rain arrives overnight.

Rain and snow are on the way

A system coming from the south and southwest overnight will start as rain and turn into a rain-snow mix early Thursday morning. Areas around the metro could experience some sleet accumulation, while Northern Minnesota could see several inches of snow accumulation.

The rain and snow will taper off in the evening and temperatures will drop into the lower 40s, making for a dry but cool Halloween. Temperatures are approaching the first of November before climbing back into the 60s for the weekend.
