The suspect called 911 shortly before 5 a.m., claiming that his 13-year-old brother had killed his family. He gasped for breath and said, “He just shot my whole family and committed suicide,” according to the affidavit.

The suspect said he hid in the bathroom on the main floor of the home and said the probable motive for his brother’s crime was that “he had been caught looking at pornographic images the night before and was about to get in too much.” from trouble.”

During the suspect’s 911 call, police received another 911 call from a neighbor who lived about a quarter mile from Humiston’s home. The neighbor told authorities that the 11-year-old Humiston girl came to their home, repeatedly rang the doorbell and told them her parents were there. they all died And it was his brother who shot him. Her neighbor reported to the police that the young girl was injured by a possible bullet, that she was bleeding from her neck and hand, and that she was afraid that her brother would come and find her.

The surviving child was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. During an interview with police at the hospital, the 11-year-old boy began to cry as he described his harrowing escape.

He said he and his younger sister shared a room and were awakened by gunshots, and when he looked out the bedroom hallway door he saw his father and brother lying in the hallway with “blood on his father’s head.” and in his brother’s mouth. When his younger sister left the bedroom and entered the hallway, the surviving Humiston victim heard another gunshot and saw his sister fall to the ground.

He later described seeing his brother enter the bedroom and shoot him once or twice, believing he had been shot in both the hand and neck, and “immediately felt pain.” He saw his brother leaning over the bodies of three family members in the living room and touching them to see if they were alive. When his brother re-entered the bedroom, he “closed his eyes, held his breath, and played dead while standing next to his bed.”

When her brother left the room and she heard him talking on the phone upstairs, she ran to her neighbor’s house to escape using a “fire window” in her room.

When asked what problems his brother was having at home, the 11-year-old boy said he had been in “big trouble” recently because he had failed his exams at school. He said his brother was wearing a checkered shirt at the time of the shooting.

Before first responders arrived, the suspect staged the scene to make it look like his brother had committed the murders and then killed himself, according to the affidavit.

Contactless order The gap between the 15-year-old suspect and his only surviving sister, 11, remains.

The sole surviving victim’s grandmother is now his custodial guardian and trustee of the lakeside home, according to court records.

The grandmother had initially wanted to have the house cleaned when she was told that the longer she waited, the more damage and deterioration the house would suffer; however, the judge ordered that all items in the house be “preserved and the property cleaned.” After the 15-year-old boy’s defense petitioned the court to close the crime scene, it was sealed, locked and guarded by the King County Sheriff until further orders from the court.

At the hearing on FridayThe young suspect’s lawyers filed a motion to protect their client’s privacy, including banning publication of his client’s photo and limiting filming of the hearing. Judge Kristin Richardson partially granted the motion, prohibiting the filming of her client from the neck up and the publication of a photograph showing her client’s name or face.

“Given the media interest in this case and the seriousness of the charges, we want the court to know that multiple people in the community who know our client have reached out to us and attested to his good character,” the suspect’s attorney said. he said. Amy Parker said in a statement at Friday’s hearing.

“He was described by them as kind and caring. This is a boy who has many friends, has social interests and contributes positively to his community.”

The suspect is charged with five counts of first-degree aggravated murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder armed with a firearm, all of which fall under domestic violence, the King County Prosecutor’s Office said. He remains in secure custody at the Clark Juvenile and Family Justice Center.

The 15-year-old boy did not enter a plea at Friday’s hearing, pending the judge’s decision on whether to move the case to adult court.

A status conference on the case will be held on January 8, 2025, where the court will be updated on the progress of the case.

The young suspect’s lawyers have no further comment at this time.
