Golfers enjoy beautiful weather on the fairway to finish the golf season

WESTON, Wis. (WSAW) – High temperatures that will end the golf season meant hectic pace at Crane Meadows Golf Course on Tuesday.

With temperatures staying in the high 70s For most of the day Tuesday, late fall days were busier than they were used to, employees said.

“Most of the time we’re open this late, but not in weather like this,” said Gary Isaacson, a part-time employee at Crane Meadows Golf Course. “We’re fully booked today. We have an all-day tea time, which is at three o’clock. People have been calling all day and a lot of people were disappointed when we told them we had no start time left, sorry.”

The warm, dry weather this late in the season also helps compensate for the rainy days at the beginning of the summer.

“That was a huge help because we had so much rain at the beginning of the summer and I think we lost 30-31 days this summer because of the rain,” Isaacson said. “So making up for the lost revenue in the fall was very beneficial to the course.”

Golfers were taking advantage of the extra days of sunshine.

“The place just filled up. “We had to wait a little bit longer because everyone was out, but it’s worth it,” said long-time golfer Dave Sims. “I’m happy for the golf course because on a day like this the greens can get really packed and that’s good, we don’t want anyone to be closed down .”

Sims said he hasn’t seen a season like this in a long time.

“It’s been a really good season, we haven’t had too much rain so it’s good for us to get out there, but this year has been very enjoyable and quite long,” Sims added. “We’ve had a few seasons like this, but they’re few and far between.”

Tuesday also marks the official end of the season at Crane Meadows Golf Course. But it didn’t seem that way to most people.

“It doesn’t look like it’s the end of the season. Normally it’s cold and people are out here wearing caps and jackets with socks,” Isaacson said. “I think everyone was disappointed that it closed because it was so beautiful. It’s been a fantastic, fantastic year so we can’t wait for everyone to come back next year!”
