Authorities in Washington DC arrested two suspects for allegedly attacking a police officer near the Vice President Kamala Harris Campaign rally Tuesday night.

The suspects, a man and a woman, were arrested just outside the Ellipse park where Harris held her rally. The campaign event was ongoing at the time of the arrests, and Harris was taking the stage around 7:40 p.m.

“The individual ignored the officer’s orders,” the official said. “As officers attempted to pull the woman away, she began attacking the officer.”

The statement said, “A second person approached the police officers from behind and attacked them.” “Both individuals were arrested without further incident and charged with assaulting a Police Officer. The arresting officers were not injured.”

It’s unclear whether those arrested were Harris supporters, protesters, or those unconnected with the rally. At least one protester was detained at the event amid pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

Protesters were seen wearing keffiyehs and carrying signs in the crowd that read “Stop arming Israel” and “Stop US funding Israeli Apartheid.” MPD did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s inquiry about the arrests of protesters.

On Tuesday, the Lincoln Project made an ill-timed post about the rally in X. The group criticized former President Trump for turning the Ellipse into a “crime scene.”

“Kamala Harris Holds Closing Arguments Rally Tonight on the Ellipse,” the post read. “4 years ago Trump did it It’s a crime scene, but tonight Kamala turns it into a launching pad for a new path.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to Harris’ campaign for comment.
