Texans star Stefon Diggs is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament

Houston Texans Linebacker Stefon Diggs will miss the rest of the season after head coach DeMeco Ryans announced Tuesday that Diggs tore his anterior cruciate ligament in Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

“Our team is saddened to hear this news,” Ryans said in a statement Tuesday.

“He has played a very important role for our team and everything he brings, not only on the field but also off the field; his energy, his leadership, the way he works every day. He has added a lot to our team and we need to fill that void.

“This is definitely a blow for us.”

Diggs, 30, is in his first season with the Texans after a less than harmonious exit from the team. Buffalo Bills.

He was injured in the third quarter of Houston’s win against the Colts. Diggs was running a route and before he hit the ground, he grabbed his right knee and lifted him up.
