Police identify body pulled from Cumberland River

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Metro Nashville Police Department has identified the body found in the Cumberland River Monday afternoon.

Police said the body was identified as 39-year-old Christopher Akridge.

Akridge was found in the River off 1st Avenue South, near Riverfront Park. A 911 caller found the body near the boat dock.

“There were no obvious signs of trauma when Akridge’s body was pulled from the water. “There is no suspicion of foul play,” police said.

The medical examiner will determine Akridge’s cause of death, according to police.
