FEMA assistance still available in Tazewell County

TAZEWELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WVVA) – Federal Emergency Management Agency leaders continue to encourage people affected by the remnants of Hurricane Helene to speak with FEMA leaders at disaster recovery centers.

Disaster recovery centers like the one in Tazewell Township are still open for those needing financial assistance. FEMA officials said the recovery center will remain open as long as needed.

The help center in Tazewell is located at 197 Main Street and is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Those with FEMA say they are still in the process of opening more disaster recovery centers in areas of need.

“We continue to work with our partners across the Commonwealth of Virginia to find out where we are needed and for how long. “We want to emphasize that we are open in Tazewell County right now,” said Trey Paul, FEMA media relations specialist.

If you plan to go to a disaster relief center for help, you should bring proof of residence, insurance information, pictures of storm damage, and banking information.

“If you are affected by the storm, please stop by. If you are affected by the storm, you have nothing to lose. Let us know what happened so we have a chance to provide assistance,” Paul said.
