Peggy A. Shearer, 92, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Paramount Senior Living.

Born July 31, 1932, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Ralph H. and Zoa E. Martin Johnston.

Her beloved husband of 60 years, Paul E. Shearer, whom she married on July 16, 1954, preceded her in death on April 12, 2015.

Peggy devoted most of her life to establishing a home for her family. He was a member of Grand Point Church in Chambersburg. She enjoyed attending county and gospel music festivals, cooking, and making friends wherever she went. His family was his passion in life. He loved spending time with them and participating in his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities. She also became a mother figure to many friends and family whose parents were long dead.

He is survived by a daughter, Cathy A. Puhl of Chambersburg; two sons, Randall E. Shearer and his wife, Lori, of Fayetteville, and Timothy J. Shearer and his companion, Toni Diffenderfer, of Fayetteville; daughter-in-law, Linda P. Shearer of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Luke P. Shearer of Fayetteville, Lacey N. Shearer of Chambersburg, Andrew M. Puhl and wife Megan of Munich, Germany, Micah D. Puhl of Gunnison, CO, Timothy J. Shearer, Jr. and wife Brittni of Shippensburg and Thomas E. Shearer and wife Kendahl of Chambersburg; six great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Skadi, Cooper, Alder, Charlotte and Rowan; and three sisters, Dolores St. Clair and her husband, Harold, Bonnie Byers and her husband, William, and Connie Abbott, all from Chambersburg.

In addition to her parents and husband, Peggy was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Puhl; and son-in-law David Puhl.

The funeral prayer will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 12.00. Grand Point Church2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Scott Despres will officiate.

Burial will follow. Norland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in church.
