2024 US Election Live Updates: George W. Bush’s daughter Barbara supports Harris

US Election 2024 Live Updates: Harris hires Maggie Rogers as she tries to mobilize college-aged voters in battleground Michigan

Vice President Kamala Harris energized young supporters at a rally and concert in the critical state of Michigan on Monday. The event featured singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers, who encouraged viewers to vote, stating that action is “bigger than fear” in these uncertain times.

Michigan had the highest turnout of young voters in the country in 2022, with long lines forming at polling stations on college campuses. Democrats aim to recreate this enthusiasm this year with events such as the event Harris organized in Ann Arbor, home to the University of Michigan, and attended by Rogers.

“You can vote early until Sunday, November 3rd, and Michigan, we need you to vote early because we only have eight days left,” the Democratic presidential candidate said at an outdoor rally in 50-degree weather. “We are eight days away from one of the most important elections of our lives.”

Harris expressed confidence in the victory, stating that they have the opportunity to turn the page and create a joyful new path forward. Thousands of people attended the event in Burns Park, where Rogers performed hits such as “I’ve Been Loving You for a Long Time.” The rally also brought Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, together for the first time since their campaign bus tour of Georgia in August.

Rogers shared her concerns about the frightening headlines she sees on her phone, admitting that the future is uncertain and she doesn’t always know how to deal with that feeling. However, he emphasized that taking actions such as voting is stronger than fear. “Voting is the key to the future,” he said.
