Chef’s Table brings authentic Turkish cuisine to San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – Located on Babcock Road, Chef’s Table Mediterranean Grill has been serving traditional Turkish-Mediterranean cuisine to San Antonio residents for the past three years, offering the authentic taste of Turkey that combines family recipes with rich cultural heritage.

Since the restaurant opened, manager Görkem Algan says his goal has always been clear: To bring authentic Turkish food to Texas, with recipes passed down through generations.

“We want to bring the best comfort food to Texas,” Algan said. “Our recipes come from our grandmothers, and we aim to introduce Texans to our culture through food.”

Chef’s Table specializes in classic Turkish and Mediterranean dishes, with Adana kebab being a highlight. Kebab, named after the city of Adana in southern Turkey, consists of spicy lamb skewers served with rice and salad. Algan says it’s not only the restaurant’s best-selling dish, but also one of the tastiest items on the menu.

The restaurant also serves Sea Bass, a Mediterranean fish popular in Türkiye, Italy, Greece and Spain. “It’s a great dish for celebrations and special occasions,” Algan said.

Chef’s Table currently has two locations; one of them is the site of a Turkish bakery in Helotes. The bakery offers a variety of Turkish cakes, pastries and savory items.

With its dedication to authentic recipes and community-focused events, Chef’s Table has established itself as a unique addition to San Antonio’s dining scene. “Our staff is 100 percent Turkish and most of our products come directly from Turkey,” Algan said. “That’s why this place really tastes like Türkiye.”
