Taylor Perkins of Riverton found guilty of murdering Michael Jefferies

A Riverton man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for fatally stabbing a man at a Mount Laurel hotel.

Taylor Perkins, 30, was accused of killing Michael Jefferies, 36, of Mount Laurel, during a fight in April 2023. Rodeway Inn along Route 73, the Burlington County District Attorney’s Office said. A jury found him guilty of involuntary manslaughter in September.

Perkins was also found guilty of unlawful escape and theft.

The man fled the scene in an SUV he stole from a nearby BMW dealership and then a truck belonging to an Xfinity employee, prosecutors said. He was arrested in Camden.

Perkins was sentenced earlier this month in Superior Court Judge Richard J. Nocella’s Mount Holly courtroom.
