Aaron Judge Announces New York Yankees’ World Series Numbers

The three games in the World Series have not been as competitive as many fans and media expected.

The Los Angeles Dodgers took a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven World Series with a 4-2 victory over the New York Yankees on Monday at Yankee Stadium.

The Dodgers will have a chance to clinch their second World Series title since 2020 and the eighth title in team history on Tuesday at 5:08 p.m. PT (8:08 p.m. ET) at Yankee Stadium.

On the Los Angeles side, Freddie Freeman had a historic World Series performance, scoring a home run in all three games entering Tuesday.

The Dodgers are getting contributions from top to bottom from their roster and pitching staff. But on the Yankees side of the coin, they haven’t been the typical output of franchise star and arguably American League MVP Aaron Judge.

The American League single-season home run record holder went 0-for-3 with a strikeout and a walk on Monday.

In three World Series games, Judge went 1-for-12 with one walk and seven strikeouts. His only hit was a single. The umpire has a 58.3% win rate in the World Series. That rate was as high as 59.2% when he batted in the first inning on Monday.

Judge has a terrible batting average in 12 postseason games. He’s hitting .140 (6-for-43) with 20 strikeouts. Three of his hits were for extra bases (one double, two homers).

It’s been a rough offseason for Judge, and now New York is facing a disappointing end to what was the franchise’s most promising season since last winning the World Series in 2009.

Trailing 3-0, the Yankees are unlikely to make a comeback. In MLB history, there has only been one team to come back from 3-0 down in a best-of-seven series. It was the 2004 Boston Red Sox who beat New York in that year’s American League Championship Series.

If the Yankees hope to finish the season with a bang rather than a whimper, they’ll have to do something that only works against them, courtesy of their biggest rival. And for that to happen, Judge will have to start performing.
