RB Donovan Edwards truly is a ‘jack of all trades’

Michigan running back Donovan Edwards further reinforced that he’s a ‘jack of all trades’ after the Wolverines beat Michigan State 24-17 on Saturday.

Early in the fourth quarter, Edwards found tight end Colston Loveland on a 23-yard touchdown pass that would ultimately be the game’s decisive score. It was the second career passing touchdown in the senior running back’s career.

Edwards has done some rare things in his career, to say the least. Edwards is the only Big Ten running back with multiple touchdown runs, touchdown receptions and touchdown passes, at least in the current century, according to the Big Ten Network.

Edwards has one of the most unique stat lines of any player you’ll see in college football. The senior has 2,077 rushing yards with 18 rushing touchdowns for his career, has made 79 receptions for 777 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns, and has 131 passing yards with two passing touchdowns.

Edwards has had some ups and downs throughout his career at Michigan. He has gone from a young freshman eager (and a little impatient) for a chance to make an impact, to a superstar sophomore who has only taken his game to a higher level in place of the injured Blake Corum, to an upperclassman still trying to succeed. Recapture the magic it had in 2022.

But Edwards’ unique skillset and the impact he made winning three Big Ten championships and a national championship in Ann Arbor won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
