16-year-old North Sanpete High School student dies in dirt bike accident

MOUNT PLEASANT, Utah — The Sanpete Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death of a 16-year-old North Sanpete High School student on Saturday.

According to the office, they were called to the crash scene in the White Hills area of ​​Sanpete County at 1:10 p.m. Emergency personnel, including Sanpete County Search and Rescue, responded to the scene and discovered the victim had fallen down a steep embankment.

Authorities said he was riding his dirt bike when he crashed. Police said he was wearing appropriate safety equipment.

A medical helicopter airlifted the victim to Primary Children’s Medical Center, but he later died from his injuries.

North Sanpete School District identified the victim as 11th grader Brinley Bailey.

The district wrote: “Our thoughts are with our family and friends. We will provide extra support in the form of counselors, social workers, school psychologist, and other support staff to anyone seeking support at North Sanpete High School and Fountain Green Elementary.”
