Father and son arrested for killing mother in small Colorado community

PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – CBI said they arrested a father and his 17-year-old son in connection with the murder of his 38-year-old mother, Chrystal Snow, at her home in Pagosa Springs.

The CBI said that on July 2, 9-1-1 operators received a call from Snow’s phone moments before his death. When deputies with the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the home, they found Snow dead from gunshot wounds.

The CBI said the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office, Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office, Cortez Police Department and the 6th Judicial District Attorney’s Office assisted in the arrest of the son and father.

Snow’s son, 17-year-old Hevon Martinez, and Hevon’s father, 43-year-old Charles Christopher Martinez, were arrested for first-degree murder.

On July 16, the CBI also issued a missing and endangered alert for Charles’ other son, 5-year-old Helliono Martinez, after Helliono was last seen with Charles. At that time, the state of Colorado was granted emergency custody of Helliono and custody was taken away from Charles. Helliono was found safe nine days later.
