New details about possible double drive-by shooting in Philadelphia’s Logan section

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia police are investigating a possible road rage incident they say occurred Sunday afternoon in the city’s Logan section.

Around 2:30 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 1900 block of Windrim Avenue.

When they arrived, they found a 32-year-old woman had been shot in the elbow and a 30-year-old man had been shot in the chest. The car they were in was also riddled with at least one bullet.

Police sources told Action News the incident started with erratic driving between two vehicles, eventually leading to an exchange of words and gunshots.

Sources also told Action News that two children were in the backseat of the victim’s car but were not injured.

“It’s pretty traumatic, it’s something that will stay with you for the rest of your life,” said George Mosee Jr., executive director of the Philadelphia Anti-Drug Violence Network.

Mosee said the crisis team immediately responded to the scene Sunday afternoon.

This shooting in Logan is not an unusual sight or feeling for Mosee.

“It’s getting more and more brazen. Fortunately, we’ve seen a decrease this year, but every time there’s a decrease, it’s too much,” Mosee said.

Malika Powell returned to the scene Monday afternoon. He says his trailer was damaged in the chaos.

“He was shot and his whole side was knocked over. There might be bullet holes in it. I’m just here to examine it and see what’s going on,” Powell told Action News. he said.

Powell said he is in the process of turning the trailer into a mobile catering business. The car has been hit twice since purchasing it five months ago.

“There’s no houses, there’s nothing, you’d think it would be out of the way but it’s not,” Powell said. “They’re speeding through here, the traffic is terrible, they’re hitting these corners. They’re not completely crazy. There’s always something going on here.”

Detectives continue to search the area for video.

Sources tell Action News there are leads on a possible suspect.

Police said no weapons were seized and no arrests were made.

Authorities said the 30-year-old man was in critical condition and the 32-year-old woman was in stable condition.
