Philadelphia crime: Murder investigation continues after Ivelisse Lugo’s body was found in garage during search for missing woman

PHILADELPHIA- A murder investigation is ongoing after the body of a woman wrapped in a blanket and towel was found in a garage in the Lawncrest area of ​​Philadelphia.

It all started with a missing person report.

Police responded to the 5900 block of Elsinore Street on Saturday for a report of a missing person, 51-year-old Ivelisse Lugo.

Neighbors on the block told ABC Philadelphia affiliate WPVI that Lugo’s daughter was going door to door asking if they had seen her mother.

That’s when they said the girl called the police and reported her mother missing.

Police alerted for Lugo Around 9:40 a.m. on Sunday.

Lugo is said to have been last seen at his home on Elsinore Avenue around 8:15 a.m. on Saturday.

In the missing persons report, police said Lugo may have been with her estranged husband. He has a 2006 Chevy Express van with Pennsylvania license plate #ZRR-4023 with a cross on the rear door. They did not disclose his name.

Police returned to the home to continue their investigation on Sunday and found a woman dead, stabbed in the back, around 4:20 p.m. Inside the garage, he was wrapped in a blanket and towel.

Police confirmed the body found Monday was Lugo.

Her neighbors described her as a sweet and kind woman.

According to authorities, no arrests were made and no weapons were found.

A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
