A Medicine Hat man was killed in a crash between an SUV and a motorcycle in southeastern Alberta on Sunday evening, RCMP said.

The vehicles were both traveling east on Highway 1, just east of Boundary Road SE, when they collided around 5:15 p.m.

RCMP said the 66-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital in Medicine Hat with life-threatening injuries but later died.

The SUV driver was uninjured.

The crash caused a section of Highway 1 to be closed for several hours.

RCMP have not yet determined the cause of the crash.
