Kitten rescued by fire captain after trailer fire in Wofford Heights

A kitten has been found and rescued following a trailer fire in Wofford Heights over the weekend.

The Kern County Fire Department said firefighters were called to a report of a trailer fully engulfed in flames in Wofford Heights on Oct. 26.

KCFD said KCFD Battalion 7 firefighters from Engines 76, 72, 71 and 79 responded to the scene.

All crews were able to keep all nearby structures safe.

KCFD said that as most of the smoke and heat dissipated, crews began rescue and care efforts when a kitten emerged from under the rubble.

The ministry said that the kitten was very weak and was affected by the smoke.

Captain Hayes of Engine 72 quickly caught up with him. The kitten was in a pocket while the captain continued working.

KCFD said in a social media post: “Saving kittens and protecting the community is KCFD on the block today!”
