Ultra rare coin sells for $506,250

A very rare penny sold for $506,250. Accordingly Ian Russell, president of GreatCollectionsbrought this dazzling price In an online auction on October 27th. The penny itself is now worth nearly five million times its original value of 10 cents.

The coin was made in 1975 by US Mint It features President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in San Francisco, California, and is one of only two coins known to exist without a distinctive “S” mark. This mark indicates that it was struck at the San Francisco Mint.

While there were likely more examples of this rare type of penny, they would only be found in the 1975 proof sets and would not rustle in pocket change. According to Russell.
