Three dead in fatal head-on crash in Frederick County

FREDERICK COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) – Three people are dead following a head-on crash between two vehicles in Frederick County Sunday afternoon. Virginia State Police are investigating a crash that occurred at 1:42 p.m. at the intersection of Wardensville Pike and Bushy Ridge Drive.

Donald R. Mallow, Jr. of Fredericksburg. (60) was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup truck westbound on Wardensville Pike when he crossed the double-solid yellow center line and collided head-on with a 2019 Buick Encore Essence, a small SUV. According to VSP.

Mallow suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Winchester Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. VSP said he was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Buick, 60-year-old Diana J. Harman of Petersburg, West Virginia, died at the scene. VSP said he was wearing a seat belt.

Patricia A. Gapp, 85, of Fisher, West Virginia, was a passenger in the Buick and died at the scene. VSP said he was wearing a seat belt.

VSP continues to investigate the crash.
