Police are searching for an XL bully who attacked a woman and killed her dog while she was walking outside.

Lancashire Police said a Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Alfie and his owner were attacked on the Seat Naze walkway on Burnley Road East in Waterfoot on Wednesday.

Police said Alfie later died from his injuries, while his owner suffered a hand injury that was not thought to be serious.

Lancashire Police said the XL bully and his owner left the scene but a 29-year-old man from Rossendale was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of allowing the dog to get dangerously out of control.
