Man seriously injured, suspect arrested in shooting in downtown Toronto – CP24

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a shooting in Toronto’s downtown east area Sunday night.

The incident occurred in the Cabbagetown South neighborhood near Sherbourne Street and Dundas Street East.

Toronto police said they were called to the area just before 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of gunshots heard nearby.

They say officers found a male victim with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and a vehicle was seen fleeing the area.

Police said that initially two suspects, a man and a woman, escaped from the area.

In a follow-up post on X, they said officers arrested a suspect after a brief foot pursuit. They were taken to hospital as a precaution, a media representative told CTV News Toronto.

Police said the arrest was made after the suspect vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle crash near The Westway and Kipling Boulevard in Etobicoke.

A media official confirmed to CP24.com that no other suspects were found.

Police also reported a firearm was seized.

Police presence has now been increased in the area where the attack occurred.

Sherbourne is closed between Dundas and Gerrard streets and police are asking motorists to use alternative routes.
