Bears’ Stevenson taunts Commanders fans just before Hail Mary – NBC New York

Tyrique Stevenson will want it back.

Washington Commanders stunned Chicago Bears 18-15 at home on Sunday last second Hail Mary Throwed by Jayden Daniels and caught by Noah Brown.

However, Bears linebacker Stevenson played a role in bringing this incident to light. Fan-recorded video shows Stevenson taunting Commanders fans before the final photo and continuing to do so as the game continues.

The 24-year-old Stevenson then recovered to cover Washington’s receivers, but was ultimately the one to tip it back into the end zone where Brown stood for the easy carry.

Stevenson a few hours after the game sent Apology on social media.

“I apologize to Chicago and my teammates for the lack of awareness and focus…” Stevenson wrote. “The game isn’t over until the clock resets. I can’t accept anything as it is. Notes are taken, improvement happens. #Beardown”

Stevenson, a 2023 second-round pick by Chicago out of Miami (Fla.), has an important role on the Bears’ defense as a starter in Eric Washington’s system.

It remains to be seen whether Stevenson will face disciplinary action from the team for his actions, especially considering the cost to the team.

Chicago falls to 4-3 and sits in last place in the tough NFC North, while the Commanders are off to a solid 6-2 start after failing to make the playoffs in each of the last three seasons.

The Bears hit the road in Week 9 and will face the Arizona Cardinals, who are currently in first place in the NFC West at 4-4.
