The Penguin episode 6 summary and Easter eggs: New alliances and old tensions

Episode 6 of Penguin is out now, and the Batman spin-off series is three-quarters done. This means we’ve almost reached boiling point in Gotham City’s criminal underworld, and the balance of power is moving ever closer to tipping as the finale quickly approaches.

Since episode 6 opens with snow falling on Gotham, it’s clear that some time has passed since episode 5. Oz also establishes and operates his new “underground empire”, a laboratory producing the new drug ‘Bliss’ in the sewers beneath the Crown Point neighborhood. The limited number of mushrooms that survived the fire in episode 5 have now grown exponentially, and Oz and his new team are running a pretty big operation. Oz tells Victor that they take care of the neighborhood and that his name “will live on forever.” It is also close to making a deal with rival union the Triads.
