The young man who jumped from the high voltage tower in Sylmar was hospitalized

A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital after jumping from a 25-metre high voltage tower in Sylmar on Sunday.

Around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, crews were working to rescue the teen who was experiencing what the Los Angeles Fire Department described as a psychological emergency.

He was trapped at a high-voltage transmission tower at 16320 Silver Oaks Drive, east of the 5 Freeway, according to the LAFD.

At one point, the boy jumped from the tower but was unable to jump onto the rescue pad placed by rescuers, according to the ministry. He was transported to a trauma center for treatment of unknown injuries.
