Packers avoid disaster with latest update on Jordan Love’s injuries

There is hope!

After the Green Bay Packers’ Week 8 win in Jacksonville, the mood wasn’t very good. A win is a win, but with Jordan Love’s injury situation still uncertain, it was harder than ever to justify the normal post-match excitement.

Love suffered a groin injury at some point in the first half and was visibly hampered during several Packers’ offensive series before exiting the game. He did not return to the game and Malik Willis picked up Green Bay’s sixth win of the year.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur didn’t have many answers when asked about Love’s injury after the game. All he said was the team had a ‘high level of concern’ for Lovebut could not provide any other details about what happened or how serious the situation was.

Fortunately, the Packers appear to have dodged a bullet.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the team is cautiously optimistic that Love has avoided the worst-case scenario. Pelissero reported that Love will undergo testing on Monday, but the team isn’t too concerned he’ll miss much or any time.

Of course, it’s always good news if your quarterback doesn’t miss time with a lower-body injury, but this is especially encouraging considering what Green Bay’s schedule looks like next month. Week 9’s matchup against the Detroit Lions will likely be the biggest game of the season, with subsequent games against the Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins testing a group that has come off exciting wins in consecutive weeks.

And to Willis’ credit, the Packers haven’t proven they can win games without Love. But the Lions — or even the Bears — are a completely different challenge than the Titans, Colts or Jaguars, and the NFC North is too good to rely heavily on a backup QB this season.

So it’s safe to assume everyone can feel great about the three-point victory over the two-win Jaguars. Now begins the long wait for Wednesday afternoon’s injury report.
