Billy Crystal accidentally gave away his iconic ‘When Harry Met Sally’ sweater.

The 76-year-old star admitted she took “a huge chunk” of her character’s wardrobe from the set of the 1989 romantic comedy, but managed to lose the white wool knitwear because she mistakenly thought she’d donated it to UCLA’s drama department. many other items he thought he could use for costumes.

“I bought a lot of clothes from the set,” she told People magazine. I’m a bit of a clothing lover. The only thing I don’t have is that sweater and I’ve had it for years, the real one from ‘Harry and Sally’.”

When asked what he thought happened to him, he added: “I donated. I think tons of clothes were sent to UCLA’s theater department for the costumes. I feel it’s there. As I saw other people, I also strained my brain; You may have seen them wearing sweaters on social media and posing in that scene. I wish I had that sweater.”

The ‘City Slickers’ star has applied to college in hopes of getting his sweater back.

She added: “UCLA, if you’re watching, could you maybe look in the archives and see if it’s in the wardrobe department?”

Billy recently spoke about the film’s enduring appeal and how many people still see him and co-star Meg Ryan as a couple.

He said: “We were brought together by director Rob Reiner and screenwriter Nora Ephron, cast as this couple, and you never know – almost 35 years later, we’re still the couple for all.

“As you move forward and new generations see this movie and feel it and watch it over and over again for Valentine’s Day, Christmas, whatever.

“You know, people fall in love every day, and people fall out of love every day. That’s how this movie stays evergreen. It’s a beautiful thing.”
