Man arrested in connection with hit-and-run that left woman seriously injured in Waipahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Honolulu police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a 76-year-old woman in critical condition in Waipahu Sunday morning.

The incident took place around 7.40am near Farrington Highway and Pahu Street.

According to Honolulu police, a vehicle driven by a 55-year-old man was traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway when he turned right on Pahu Avenue and struck the woman walking across the street.

The woman, whose condition was critical, was taken to the hospital.

Police said that the driver first stopped and then fled the scene without even helping.

He was later arrested for collision causing death or serious bodily injury.

Speed, drugs or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors to the crash.
