Northpower’s 60,000 Whangārei and Kaipara customers to share $18 million

“We know how happy people are with discounts because we hear from our consumers when we see them in the community,” Heatley said.

Most residential and commercial customers connected to Northpower’s electricity network will benefit from a rebate calculated based on their individual usage. The payment will be different for everyone this year and will be made in two separate payments of up to $149.89 including GST, the first in November and the second in May next year.

Splitting the payment this year is an interim step, as payments are moved to May each year starting in 2026. This change in payment timing is necessary to align the discount with the April through March network pricing year.

“We are delighted that Northpower’s continued success allows us to offer this rebate back to Northpower’s consumer owners. “We know what a difference this makes to so many households, especially in today’s climate,” said Northpower chairman Mark Trigg.

Northpower Electric Power Trust is distributing another $2.2 million to consumer owners this year; This means each connected customer will receive a one-time $35 (excluding GST) on their November-December payment.

The rebate and one-off trust distribution will appear as a credit on customers’ November or December electricity bills and will benefit more than 60,000 customer connections on the Northpower network.

To benefit from the campaign, consumers must have an active network connection as of November 1 for the first payment and May 1, 2025 for the second payment. Full details of the eligibility criteria and how the discount is calculated are available on Northpower’s website. northpower.com.
