An eyewitness told WGN that the gray SUV pushed the white SUV a good distance away, and the mangled vehicles arrived in front of a gas station, with one of them nearly hitting the gas pump. Part of the accident was captured on the gas station’s security camera.

“It was very loud and very scary,” the witness said. “The white car almost rolled over and the airbags deployed.”

A 17-year-old child passenger in the white SUV was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. An identity has not yet been released.
