Man arrested after the body of a man in his 40s was found at a property in Dublin as gardai launched an investigation

A man in his 40s has died following a serious incident in Dublin.

Gardai are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in his late 40s.

The incident happened in Lucan, Co Dublin, shortly after 8am this morning.

The incident happened in Lucan, Co Dublin, shortly after 8am this morning.

Gardaí were alerted to an incident at a residence in Old Bridge Park, Lucan.

The man was found to be inside the property and pronounced dead at the scene.

A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in his late 40s following an incident in Lucan, Co. Dublin.

“Shortly after 8am on Monday 28 October 2024, Gardaí were alerted to an incident at a residence in Old Bridge Park, Lucan. A male in his late 40s was located at the property and was pronounced dead at the scene.”

A man in his 20s was arrested following the incident and remains in custody at a Garda station in west Dublin.

The spokesman continued: “A man in his 20s was arrested and is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in West Dublin.”

The coroner was notified and the services of the Garda Technical Bureau and State Pathologist were requested.

A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has also been assigned to the case.

An incident room has been established at Lucan Garda Station.

A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has also been appointed to support the family of the deceased.

The statement continued: “The Coroner was notified and the services of the Garda Technical Bureau and the State Pathologist were requested.

“A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Lucan Garda Station.

“A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) will be appointed to provide support to the family of the deceased.

“The crime scene was preserved for forensic and technical examination and an autopsy was planned.”

Gardai confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
