Person detained after explosion at house in Piedmont

PIEDMONT, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office says an investigation is ongoing following a home explosion in Piedmont late Sunday night.

Deputies said they were called to a home on Pine Drive for a house fire caused by an explosion. Around 11 p.m., a 911 call came in claiming that many people were trapped in the house.

When deputies and firefighters arrived, the fire was extinguished and all residents had been located and were safe, officials said. One person injured due to smoke inhalation was taken to hospital.

According to deputies, a suspect was located in the rear of the property with multiple injuries and was taken to the hospital. During the investigation, it was revealed that the suspect was also wanted out of Simpsonville for attempted murder.
