EPL: FA punishes Chelsea after 2-1 win over Newcastle United

The FA has fined Chelsea £75,000 for receiving six yellow cards in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United, according to sports journalist Kieran Gill.

DAILY POST reports that the West London outfit recorded six yellow cards in a single match for the third time this season.

Blues took the lead against Newcastle United with Nicolas Jackson’s goal in the 18th minute.

However, Newcastle United equalized in the 32nd minute with a goal scored by Alexander Isak.

Cole Palmer scored the winning goal in the second half, helping his team take the three points.

However, Chelsea’s disciplinary problems cost them for the third time this season.

Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, Christopher Nkunku, Weskey Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke received yellow cards during the match.

Recall that the Blues had similar disciplinary issues in their 1-0 win over Bournemouth, receiving eight cautions and being fined £25,000.

The London giants were fined £50,000 by the FA after picking up six yellow cards in a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest earlier this month.

Following the latest incident, Chelsea have been fined a total of £150,000 for disciplinary issues this season.

They are now the first team in the Premier League to receive six or more yellow cards in three matches in a season.
