FDNY: 2 people injured after fire broke out at home in Staten Island overnight

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Two people were injured after a two-alarm fire broke out at a home in Castleton Corners on Sunday.

The incident began around 2:46 a.m. at a home in the 200 block of Potter Boulevard following a report of smoke and fire, an FDNY spokesman said.

A total of 25 teams and approximately 106 fire and emergency personnel responded to the fire on the second floor and attic and managed to bring the fire under control at 04.23.

According to the FDNY, the two injured people were a civilian and a firefighter, and both were treated at the University of Richmond Medical Center (RUMC) in West Brighton.

The civilian suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries, while the firefighter suffered minor injuries, the FDNY said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the FDNY.
