MCC to host fall biotechnology and healthcare open event at Lowell campus

Middlesex Community College helps students enter the workforce in some of the most in-demand healthcare and STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) industries in the state. A fall open house focusing on MCC’s healthcare and biotechnology programs will be held in Lowell on Tuesday, October 29 at 5 p.m. to introduce potential students and their families to these opportunities.

“Our healthcare students are well prepared to enter the workplace with hands-on clinical and laboratory hours combined with an industry-focused curriculum taught by professors who are experts in their fields,” said Dean of Health Karen Townsend. “We are excited to showcase our programs, state-of-the-art spaces, supportive faculty, and award-winning student support services. If you are interested in a rewarding and stable career in healthcare, join us at the event to learn more about how MCC can start you on your path.

MCC’s healthcare programs include nursing, dental care, dental hygiene, dental laboratory technology, diagnostic medical sonography, healthcare administration, medical assisting, medical laboratory technician and radiological technology. During the public event, attendees will be able to tour program facilities such as the dental hygiene clinic, new nursing simulation and laboratory spaces, and the biotechnology laboratory.

“The biotechnology program at MCC is a leader in producing graduates who are well-prepared to work in the industry in Massachusetts,” said STEM Dean Marie Tupaj. “In addition to providing practical experiences through our completely renovated laboratory and paid internship offerings, our faculty bring their experience working in the field to the classroom. Open House will allow us to highlight the value of the program, including the career development and networking opportunities we provide to set our students up for success.”

The Lowell open house will give students and their families the opportunity to meet faculty, speak with staff in all student service areas, take a campus tour and apply to MCC. Additional experiences include learning about academic and career advising, financial aid, free tutoring, dual enrollment, honors opportunities, and Student Access and Support Services.

Middlesex will also host an autumn open event in Bedford on Wednesday, November 6 at 5pm. Students can learn about all programs, tour the Bedford campus, and apply to MCC.

“MCC offers students of all ages, backgrounds, and goals many opportunities to achieve success,” said Assistant Director of Admissions Jenna Hurd. “Whether you are exploring your options or want to learn more about our biotechnology and healthcare options, we look forward to welcoming you to our campuses for Open House events!”
