Ole Miss Defensive Line Dominates in 26-14 Victory Over Oklahoma

They added to that legacy with a dominant performance on Saturday. Rebels defeat Oklahoma 26-14 For win number 6 of the year.

The defensive line sacked Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold nine times; this was the most points in a game since 2020. Suntarine Perkins led the way with three sacks, while JJ Pegues and Princely Umanmlielin recorded two each and Jared Ivey and Akeelo Stone recorded one sack each.

One Sloppy first half for Rebelsthe defense surrendered 235 yards of total offense. They allowed just 94 in the second; it was a massive comeback that helped the Rebels get back into the game.

“We’re going into the game with a ‘finish them’ mentality,” Umanmielen said. “But every time we went into halftime and the game wasn’t going our way, we knew we had to step up defensively. Whenever that time comes, we play accordingly.”

And they played accordingly. A tremendous performance in the second half helped increase confidence not only in the defense but in the team as a whole. The Rebel offense struck twice to take a 12-point lead they would not relinquish. The defense also shut down the second half.

Recovering from the bye week was important for the defensive line, but recovering at halftime was imperative to the win. Following up on this great performance will be a key factor in beating Arkansas on the road next Saturday.
